Q: What was your life like before you got the vaccine?
I’d retired as an OT so I’d have the ability to spend a lot of time with my young grandchildren in CO. I didn’t want to miss any part of their growing up! I was also about to open a family market place in our town of Jupiter for our community to visit and enjoy…finally after 12 yrs in the making.
Q: What was your reaction, symptoms, & timeline?
Two weeks after my second dose of Moderna, I suddenly felt faint, I was visiting my grandchildren ( 2 and 5) and had treated my kids to a baseball game while I’d babysit! First time they’d been out in 9 months. I got terribly nauseous and lightheaded and began to shake uncontrollably! My two Littles were extremely upset to see Nonnie like this! After several ER visits, one hospitalization, MRIs, Cat Scans, Colonoscopy, 2 hour ENT test and countless specialists…everything was normal. I was told by a Rheumatologist that there was NOTHING wrong with me, stop going to “Ologists” you just got old- go live your life. It’s been 8 months now. No one wants to listen. One ER dr said “ please!! If this was really a reaction to the vaccine…you’d be on the national news as the only one it’s ever happened to!!!”
Q: What is your life like now, after getting the vaccine?
I have no insurance. All the bills for medical care over the last 8 months have stopped our new business from thriving…I can’t be there because the nerve pain, nausea, fatigue, internal tremors, headaches, heaviness in my legs and unsteadiness have kept me on the couch. My grandchildren are growing up without their Nonnie as promised. I am currently trying a new medication, because the neurologist has said “ we can only treat the symptoms until your body calms down from the reaction from the vaccine” fingers crossed…as we have all had to go it alone! I am not an anti vaxer…anything but. Drove my mother 2 hours north to get it to make sure she was protected! I still believe the vaccine is helpful in stopping this pandemic, however I NEVER would have believed we vaccine injured would have been left to fight on our own. Someone must listen to us!!!
Q: Share your experience with any medical care and any diagnoses you have received:
I’ve had many diagnoses over the previous 8 months. Each ER or hospitalization ended with a different diagnosis. Food poisoning, celliac, Polymyalgia, tendon tears, dehydration, vertigo, neuralgia, brain spots in my frontal lobes, genetically predisposed to blood clotting, abnormal ANA, elevated B6.
Q: Was your reaction reported, and what was the response?
I called Brian Mast our representative. No call back or email in response. Sent two reports to VAERs, 1st one responded with automated response saying they received my email. 2nd one said I’d need an attorney.
Q: Is there anything that has helped, and have your symptoms improved?
Having a group that experienced the same strange symptoms after getting their vaccine was truly a God send. The attacks were frightening and when no one would try to help…at least they listened and supported me. The suggestions in this group gave me hope. The antihistamine helped with the tingling and burning sensations. The Gabapentin right now, 5 days in seems to be calming the internal tremors.
Q: What do you wish others knew?
I wish others knew that although most seem to do well at this point after the vaccine…there are a percentage of people that do not. No one has let them know the truth, so they can make an INFORMED decision for themselves and their families.
