Q: What was your life like before you got the vaccine?
My son's life was great. He loved sports and working out everyday. Very fit and healthy.
Q: What was your reaction, symptoms, & timeline?
After the vaccine my son's arm hurt and was swollen and red and hot, On Monday my son got up and had chest pain and tightness and short of breath, we called the ambulance, they came did an ecg and told us that they dont think it was an emergency but they said to take him to our normal GP, so we done that the doctor made him do bloods and ECG, later on that day I received a phone call from the doctor tell me to take Micheal straight to emergency, Hospital. We got to the hospital and they were great and put Micheal in straight away, they had Micheal on the heart monitor and toke bloods. Micheal's results came back and was diagnosed with Myocarditis!! Micheal spent 2 nights in hospital and he was on 10 tablets a day. We are now waiting to do an MRI so we can see the full extent of damage, pray that there is not.
Q: What is your life like now, after getting the vaccine?
My son's life is every different!! He is a 17 year old boy that is meant to be living his best life at the moment. Micheal is not able to do anything to stress his heart, at the moment he is allowed to go for walk's and then slowly start doing some light exercise after 4-6 weeks.
Q: Share your experience with any medical care and any diagnoses you have received:
Micheal's medical care has been good, we have to see his cardiologist on the 3rd December to get the results of the MRI.
Q: Was your reaction reported, and what was the response?
I have reported it to the TGA and I had the Royal Children's Hospital call to ask questions.
Q: Is there anything that has helped, and have your symptoms improved?
The medication helped and lots of rest.
Q: What do you wish others knew?
I wish that others know that Myocarditis is not a rare side effect, It is happening to a lot of young kids and it need to be know!! It really needs to stop!!
Hi Alesha Zerafa, please up date us here on how things go with the visit to the cardiologist (on Friday) you mentioned. Thanks 😊

[Australia] The decision by the ambulance personnel here is interesting. Just in the last couple of days I read about possible ambulance policy for cases such as Michael's (Michael is in the state of Victoria).
