Fabia Vale

First Dose of Moderna on 01/28/21

Massachusetts

52 yrs old

Q: What was your life like before you got the vaccine?

Busy professional, gardener, boater, traveler

Q: Would you like to share your reasons for getting vaccinated?

I used to be a medical researcher, so I thought it was important to be part of a potential preventative measure.

Q: What was your reaction, symptoms, & timeline?

Anaphylaxis.

A few months later, I had a kidney infarct that killed 20% of my left upper kidney.

Q: What is your life like now, after getting the vaccine?

Tons of medical appointments, visit to experts in cities a long distance from home. There is no apparent explanation for the kidney infarct.

Q: Share your experience with any medical care and any diagnoses you have received:

CT angiograms, ER visit, hospitalization, blood thinners, visit to experts in both Boston and NYC. It’s been time consuming and very expensive. Diagnosis was kidney infarct without apparent cause.

Q: Was your reaction reported, and what was the response?

It was reported to VAERS.

Q: Is there anything that has helped, and have your symptoms improved?

I’m better, but I have to be on aspirin for the rest of my life and have regular kidney function tests.

Q: Have you had Covid before?

Yes, in February of 2020 and again in January of 2022

Q: What do you wish others knew?

I wish I never got the vaccine. It is not safe for many, and it does not always prevent COVID.
