Q: What was your life like before you got the vaccine?

I am a professional musician in a somewhat successful band and I honestly haven’t wanted to bring attention to my problem publicly. Not comfortable connecting this to the band. We have released many records and average 150 shows a year in 35 countries. I have been playing music for 30 years.

Q: Would you like to share your reasons for getting vaccinated?

Pressured into it. Shamed. Made to feel I was doing something wrong by having already went through a Covid infection and believing that maybe my natural immunity wasn’t valid or real. Would never tour as a musician again which would also mean essentially losing my job.

Q: What was your reaction, symptoms, & timeline?

I have had mild tinnitus most my adult life due to being a musician. It has never bothered me or been any kind of issue in my life. Literally unnoticeable. I had Covid in January 2021 after almost a year off the road during lockdown. After having Covid I eventually got vaccinated because I was being told I wouldn’t be able to work / tour around the world again without the shots. About 2 1/2 weeks after my second shot I had insanely elevated tinnitus. Like nothing I had even experienced in my life. 15 months later and still the same basically. I have learned to live with it to a certain degree and this year touring resumed. So I work mostly in the same way now as before pandemic, but I struggle with this new array of sounds that accompany most everything I do especially musically. It’s been a emotional roller coaster to say the least. But music is the only job I know and I have a wife and young daughter so I push through. I am beyond lucky to have the support I have of my immediate family and co workers.

Q: Share your experience with any medical care and any diagnoses you have received:

I have seen several doctors. No treatment for tinnitus really other than being told to live with it or hearing aids, sound masking. I have talk to a couple doctors though who definitely believe this is the result of a vaccine side effect. Saying maybe with time it will resolve itself.

Q: Was your reaction reported, and what was the response?

Only with the few doctors I’ve seen. A couple have believed me. A couple just blame music, but I had essentially a year off before this happened and the overwhelming uptick in tinnitus started about two and a half weeks after second shot.

Q: Are there any treatments we should know about that helped or hurt your health?

I’ve had no treatments. But I am interested in any information on vaccine injury treatments in NYC area.

Q: Have you had Covid before?

Yes. Sick for a couple weeks. I had Covid about 8 months before first vaccination.

Q: What do you wish others knew?

Everyone is different and not everyone has the same reactions to these vaccines. Some are fine some are not. I am not an anti-vaccine person. I did what I thought was right. I was negatively affected. I wish this sort of scenario was met with compassion and open minds.
