Q: What was your life like before you got the vaccine?
Very healthy, extremely active. Working out 4 times a week.
Q: Would you like to share your reasons for getting vaccinated?
If I didn’t take it, I would have to walk away from my job. City of Ottawa mandate.
Q: What was your reaction, symptoms, & timeline?
In the moment of getting the 2nd jab, it felt like I was being sucker punched. Within 6 hrs, I started having severe flu symptoms. Had to stay home for 5 days. Within 2 months, I woke up one morning to extremely severe pain in both hips. 2 weeks later, I got an X-ray. My family doctor called me saying he had no explanation as to why I had an X-ray of an 80 year old person. I have severe bilateral osteoarthritis. According to the X-ray, my left hip will have to be replaced anywhere from a year to 5, if I handle the pain. My job is very demanding, my life is very busy. How is it possible to just wake up one day with no prior symptoms to your hips suddenly deteriorated 30 years in a night?
Q: What is your life like now, after getting the vaccine?
I walk in severe pain most days, and my bowels are out of control, like this has enhanced my IBS beyond.
Q: Share your experience with any medical care and any diagnoses you have received:
Only my doctor and he says he has no explanation. I’ve gone to him for 30 years, and he was at a loss for words.
Q: Was your reaction reported, and what was the response?
Only family and friends. Most rack it up to my age. There’s no known history in my family of this sort of thing.
Q: Is there anything that has helped, and have your symptoms improved?
I now take turmeric and ingest high doses of cbd oil. My hips are sore daily, my bowels are crazy out of whack, and my lower back hurts almost daily. I’m in hope that my remedies help to keep my pain at bay, until the inevitable hip replacements before my time.
Q: Have you had Covid before?
Never
Q: What do you wish others knew?
I never wanted to take the shots, except I was coerced into taking them, because my job was on the line. I work ltc and totally love it.
