Q: What was your life like before you got the vaccine?

I was a very happy and healthy 54 year old mother, wife, health care worker, and stage performer. I had no preexisting conditions and took no medications. I had not had so much as a cold in years.

Q: Would you like to share your reasons for getting vaccinated?

I am a medical assistant at a very prominent hospital. I was on a promo video for being the one to give the very first Covid vaccine to our employees. I was so nervous, with all the cameras and news people around, and I accidentally stuck myself during that day with a clean needle attached to a Moderna vaccine.

At the time, it was so hyped up and emotional, and we didn't have enough for all the people who wanted them, so everyone was saying, "Every dose is precious! Now we can't give that vaccine to anyone else!" So I just said, "Ok, just give it to me then."

I was not going to get the vaccine. My gut said not to. I regret giving in to all the pressure and having to make that split second decision.

Q: What was your reaction, symptoms, & timeline?

After my first dose, my arm was red, swollen, and hot to the touch for about a week. After the 2nd dose, about 8 to 10 hours later, I had a horrible head ache, like "I think they are going to find me dead in the morning" head ache. Shortly thereafter, my ears started ringing, a condition called tinnitus. I didn't panic, I just thought it was part of the supposed "mild, temporary side effects" that I had heard about. I also experienced muscle spasms, joint pain, and numbness in my feet, loss of energy, brain fog, as well as tingling in my arms and legs. The tinnitus was very loud, like torture. I waited for it to go away, but it's been over a year now, and my brain is learning to over look it, but the sound is still there, along with the numbness in my feet. The rest of the problems cleared up, but it has been a slow go and taken a year.

Q: What is your life like now, after getting the vaccine?

Tinnitus is something no one can see. I still look like myself on the outside, so no one understands what you are going through. Hearing a constant alarm in your head 24/7 takes a toll. You feel like you are going crazy. I have been fighting depression, and where I was once the life of the party and had tons of energy and was always smiling and making people laugh, I now feel like a different person. I do not want to be involved in anything or be around people. I have no interest in the things I once loved to do. I am just so tired all the time. I loved silence. Sitting silently and writing my plays...that was my happy place. There is no cure for tinnitus and it breaks my heard to think I will never have silence again.

Q: Share your experience with any medical care and any diagnoses you have received:

I had a visit with one of our ENTs at the hospital where I work, and he did several tests. I have no hearing loss. He said there was no possible way the vaccine could have caused this. I am in a support group for tinnitus, and I have watched people all over the world who are suffering from this post vaccine and they are spending thousands of dollars on test and doctors and treatments and supplements and medications, to no avail and no relief. So I am just going on with my life without medical care. My insurance doesn't cover any of this except well care. (A health care worker without adequate health care- yes, that is correct.)

Q: Was your reaction reported, and what was the response?

I reported to V-Safe and VAERS. I have a case number but no one has ever contacted me.

Q: Is there anything that has helped, and have your symptoms improved?

The only thing that helps is time. And Prayer! Also, I am forcing myself to go to work, to be involved, to pick back up with my stage work and ministry. Some days it takes everything within me to keep going. My life may never be the same, but if I go down, I will go down fighting and strive to make the most of every day.

Q: Have you had Covid before? What was your experience if so?

Actually, even though I am double vaxed, I just got Covid several weeks ago and was very sick. Tinnitus picked right back up, and my fatigue is almost unbearable. Now I feel I am back to square one.

Q: What do you wish others knew?

When I gave the vaccine, I would tell everyone that they might experience mild and temporary side effects because that is what I was told to say. IT IS NOT TRUE. I wish the truth was not censored.
