Q: What was your life like before you got the vaccine?

Had full use of my vision. I was a healthy man before I received my Moderna vaccine shots.

Q: Would you like to share your reasons for getting vaccinated?

Work required it, and my father got sick and later died from Covid.

Q: What was your reaction, symptoms, & timeline?

I was laid off from my job because of the pandemic. After about a year of being laid off, I returned back. Shortly after that they were going to start requiring employees to be vaccinated. I complied and received the Moderna vaccine. A couple of days after my 2nd Moderna vaccine shot on September 24, 2021, I started having headaches. The headaches progressively worsened over the next few weeks. On October 19, 2021, the headaches moved to my left eye, and I started having double vision. I went to the emergency room that night. That night while waiting I lost vision in my left eye. The emergency room kept me for serval hours running tests. They let me go home the following day. I followed up with an eye doctor a few days later. He had me check into the emergency room stating if I didn’t go, I was going to die. I still had a loss of vision and headaches, and at that point, I was admitted to the hospital. They ran a lot of tests, including CT scans, and MRIs, and took spinal fluid and blood work almost every day. They said that my vision should return after a series of Prednisone medications. I was released and returned to have a Plasma Exchange. I was admitted to the hospital for this for about 11 days. On the initial day of my release, my arms started tingling, my legs wouldn’t work, and I wasn’t getting oxygen. This was going on for about 10 minutes. I was rushed to the CT Scan, because they thought it was a blood clot. But that was not the cause, and they believed that when they removed the catheter, it tickled my heart. I was released the next day. I was referred to another eye specialist for more tests and a second opinion. The ophthalmologist confirmed my vision is permanently lost. I also have a narrowing on my other eye and will need laser surgery. He looked over my history, and all the tests ran at our local Kaiser with no cause of why I lost my vision. He concluded that the vaccine is the root of all this. My previous eye doctor never noted any serious abnormal issues with my vision. I was a healthy person before I got the Moderna vaccine shots. I have been on leave from my job from October 19, 2021, till May 20, 2022. My vision has not and will not be coming back. I still have debilitating headaches every day. I am a DOT commercial driver by trade. I am required to carry a DOT Endorsement for my position at work. With the loss of my sight in one eye, I will not qualify any longer. I have become a liability to my employer. This is a permanent and lifetime disability. My life as I knew it has changed forever. I have applied for the CICP government program, but that is not going anywhere. I am at a financial loss from this vaccine. My career as a driver is over, and my potential earrings are no longer what they would be. I did my part to keep my family, friends and strangers safe, and it cost me my vision. If you have any information on this subject, it would be greatly appreciated.

Q: Tell us about any tests or medical care received:

Ct scans, MRI, plasma exchange, steroids.

Q: Was your reaction reported, and what was the response?

My eye dr. said he was going to report it.

I currently have a claim with the CICP, but that is at a standstill and have no hope of that going anywhere.

Q: Have you had Covid before?

I got Covid in August of 2022. I took Paxlovid. My symptoms were mild.

Q: What do you wish others knew?

I am now blind in one eye and could possibly lose the vision in my other eye. I struggle every day to do tasks I normally did with ease. I lost months of work and will never be able to resume my career as a commercial driver. I am sharing my story in the hopes of being heard and finding what kind of options there are for a case like mine.
